Eyelash Extensions

What you need to know about eyelash extensions

Eyelashes are no fluttering feature – we have between 80 and 180 lashes per eye. And given that eyelashes sit on some very important real estate, you want to ensure that skilled hands are using the best products to treat this sensitive area.

Our eyelash extension experts carefully apply single synthetic lashes by attaching them to your own lashes – never the skin – giving your lashes a naturally fuller look. Divine Lashes carries lashes of various lengths, thickness, and curls to fit any occasion whether it’s a special event or for an everyday look.

The glue adhesives used to attach your eyelash extensions is tested and selected by our experts. The procedure is painless and relaxing with many clients actually getting their beauty sleep as we’re making them look beautiful!

What you need to know about eyelash extensions

The eyelashes you were born with grow, mature, fall out and are replaced by new and younger lashes every 60 to 90 days. Synthetic lashes are attached to lashes that have grown long enough to support the lashes, and will fall out with the old natural lash. In order to keep your lashes lovely and full, Divine Lashes recommends touch-ups every 2-4 weeks depending on your natural lashes growth cycle. Treating your eyelashes with gentle care will ensure long lasting eyelash extensions. When it comes to eyelashes, look but don’t touch is the mantra!

Singles or Volume Extensions – How is a Girl to Decide?

Our experts can make your eyes as naturally beautiful or dramatically alluring as you want them to be. We fit our clients with single or volume extensions that will enhance and captivate. Single extensions are when one extension is attached to one natural lash – it is a hair-to-hair application. These extensions add length and volume, depending on the density of the client’s natural lashes. In a standard full set, 80 – 120 lashes are applied per eye.

If a woman wants to get noticed, volume extensions will do the trick. A volume set of eyelashes has 300-400 lashes applied per eye This technique was developed in Russia in 2007, and was introduced to North America in 2012. Divine Lashes’ Naoko Ito from the Toronto salon was trained by a Russian eyelash extensions champion in the volume extensions category, and Asako Ito from the Montreal salon was trained by an eyelash extension specialist from England who developed a unique technique in volume extensions. Divine Lashes is the industry expert in this area of eyelash extensions in Toronto and Montreal.

How to care for your eyelash extensions

The standard practice in the eyelash extension industry is to avoid contact with water for 24-48 hours after the application of eyelash extensions. At Divine Lashes, we revolutionized the curing process and so our clients can wash their faces or take a shower within 2-4 hours.

Cleaning extensions all the way to the base line using the eyelash shampoo provided by Divine Lashes is vital in ensuring healthy and enduring lashes. It is important to keep eyelash extensions clean by removing any make up to avoid bacterial growth. Mascara and eyelash curlers are not recommended to use on eyelash extensions, and avoid using eyeliner in between the lashes. Cleaning lashes with paper towel and gentle eye makeup remover is the best option – using cotton products of any kind will get caught, causing you to pull out the cotton lint, and consequently your lashes.

When cleaning your lashes, never rub them. Use an upwards or downwards motion to wash them. Dry wet lashes using a blow dryer on the cool setting.

Avoid oily products such as eye creams as oil causes the bonds to soften and will decrease the lifespan of your extensions. If you have oily skin, using blotting paper can take off excess oil. Also limit swimming, using a sauna or steam-room, facials, and hot yoga because heat and humidity may shorten the hold on of your eyelash extensions. If you like to engage in those activities, please consult with the stylists and we will be able to give appropriate advice.

How to remove eyelash extensions

How to remove eyelash extensions

If eyelash extensions are done properly by professionals, you can wear eyelashes for many years with no side effects. If you tire of your exquisite eyelashes and want to have them removed, they must be done by a Divine Lashes expert. Eyelash extensions are permanently attached to your own lashes so if you try to pick off your extensions on your own, you will damage your natural lashes. Our experts will remove them using the proper adhesive remover to prevent damage.
