You’re all ready to go to bed, but before you can get into your PJs, you remember that you’ve applied an eyelash growth serum to your lashes. You’re not really in the mood to wash your face again. You’re wondering, do you have to wash off lash serum before going to bed?
Let’s get started!
Do You Need to Wash Off Lash Serum?
No, you don’t have to wash off a lash serum after application because the active ingredients are designed to be absorbed by the hair shaft. It’s completely safe to leave the product on overnight.
As a matter of fact, it’s actually better to just leave the lash serum overnight so that the ingredients can work their magic while you sleep.
There are 3 simple reasons why I wouldn’t touch anything after an application.
Reason #1: Washing Your Face Can Strip Away the Serum
If you wash your face right after applying lash serum, you’re essentially washing away the product. All that hard work you put into applying the serum will go down the drain – quite literally.
Reason #2: It Can Irritate Your Eyes
Washing your face with water after applying lash serum can also cause irritation to your eyes. This is because you might also ascendingly get the lash growth serum to drip into your eyes which can cause irritation and redness.
Reason #3: It’s Not Necessary
Lash serums are designed to be left on overnight, so there’s no need to wash them off. If you’re a morning person and decide to apply your serum in the morning, that’s fine too.
After applying the growth serum, just wait 5 minutes for it to dry. That way, you can apply eye makeup on top such as mascara or eyeliner.
What Happens When You Leave the Lash Serum Overnight?
That’s the ideal scenario. The lash line will fully absorb the product while you sleep which will give you the best results and benefits.
As I said earlier, you could also do it in the morning. But I’ve personally included this in my nighttime routine as I think it makes more sense.
Tips for Washing off Lash Serum Safely
The only reason I see this happening is if you’re experiencing an adverse reaction from the application. In such cases, you would want to immediately wash off the growth serum. Here are some tips to do so:
- Use an oil-free cleanser that’s safe around the delicate skin around the eyes.
- Cup some lukewarm water with your hands and pour it on the upper lash lines with your eyes closed.
- Gently massage the eyelid area in a circular motion
- Rinse thoroughly any product leftover
- Gently pat dry using a soft towel.
Final Thoughts
I hope my quick answer has convinced you to let your liquid gold on your eyelashes while you sleep. In my experience, that’s the best way to achieve the most reliable and impressive results.
