Best Lash Serums Compared in 2024 (Ranked & Reviewed)

I wanted to be able to answer my lash clients when they ask me:

“What are the best lash serums? Can you recommend any good ones?”

So, I’ve tried so many of them (curse my Asian lashes!) and witnessed some amazing lash transformations (and some rather unimpressive ones) from my clients who tried one too.

I also spent a considerable amount of time studying their ingredients to find out which ones are worth it and which ones should be left out of my best-of list.

I wanted to try the ForLash growth serum from the company ForChics for the longest time and I finally got my hands on it.

The Liaison Lash Bond is an up-and-coming growth serum that is quickly gaining popularity.

This 7 ingredient list is quite simple — your usual solvent, PH stabilizers, and thickening agents. However, I was intrigued by the active ingredient called “EPM Enzyme” so I had to research it.

Turns out that EPM enzymes, composed of amino acids, create peptides that act as protein fragments. These peptides can benefit our eyelashes, which are primarily protein-based like the rest of our hair.

Personally, I find the product to be a perfect fit for my safety criteria. I have sensitive skin and my eyes can’t tolerate hormone-like ingredients. That’s why I prefer the safe approach of this peptide-based serum. I never experienced any redness or irritation.

4. Vegamour

When a client of mine wishes to combine a lash serum with their existing eyelash extensions (super long eyelash alert!), I always recommend Vegamour Gro.

You probably already know this, but oils are incredibly bad for your extensions since they can degrade the lash glue over time. That’s why I made sure this serum doesn’t contain any. A lot of serums contain caster oils for example.

Prostaglandins: Yes or No?

This is THE MOST important ingredient you should look for when buying a growth serum.

Why is that?

Most reviews you’ll find online won’t mention this…

During clinical trials for a glaucoma medication containing prostaglandin analogs, patients started to experience increased eyelash growth as a side effect. Since then, prostaglandin analogs have been used in various lash growth serums.

Sounds great right?

The truth is, prostaglandin analogs also have potential side effects. These may include eye irritation, redness, itching, and even changes in eye color or vision. Cases of orbital fat atrophy have also been reported.

That’s not to say prostaglandin-based eyelash serums should be absolutely avoided – there are some people for whom eyelash growth is paramount given their personal circumstances, such as individuals who have lost their lashes due to illness or medical treatments.

In these cases, an eyelash serum with prostaglandins may be a viable option but it should be done under the guidance of a healthcare professional and carefully monitor any potential side effects.

Ultimately, the decision to use prostaglandins or not should be made after careful consideration of the risk/benefit balance.

How I Choose The Best

Most eyelash serums I bought for testing were at the request of my lash studio clients or blog readers seeking my honest views.

There are several factors that I take into consideration when making a recommendation:

• Ingredients: This is my #1 concern. I always make sure to thoroughly research all the ingredients listed on the label and how they work. I also review the scientific literature on PubMed.
• My personal experience: Of course, everyone’s experience will vary but I like to test the serum on myself for at least 4 weeks. I find that this is the minimum amount of time required to get a good idea of how effective the product is and if any side effects arise.
