If you’re looking to add some extra oomph to your look, a lash lift might be the perfect solution! This treatment can give you longer, thicker lashes without the need for mascara.
But how often can you get a lash lift? And what are the risks associated with this procedure if you do it too often?
You can get lash lifts as often as you would like since there is no maximum number of times the procedure can be done. However, you should wait for the recommended interval of 4 weeks between each lash lift.
Keep reading to learn more about lash lift frequency and how to do it multiple times safely.
Let’s get started!
How Often Can You Get a Lash Lift (And Why)?
If you’re looking for a way to enhance your appearance, a lash lift can give you the look of longer, fuller lashes. The good news is that there is no maximum number of times you can get a lash lift.
Several of my clients come back every 6 to 8 weeks like clockwork to keep their lash lift looking its best by lifting the new hair growth.
Pro Tip: Did you know that eyelashes have a natural growth cycle of around 60 to 90 days? This means that you’ll need to get a lash lift every few months to lift the new eyelashes and rock beautiful lashes all year long!
Having said that, there are some instances that might cause the lift to weaken such as:
- Excessive rubbing of the eyes
- Skipping out on the aftercare routine (more on that later!)
- Using oil-based products around the eye area
- Exposure to salt water or chlorine
- Excessive heat
In such cases, you might be tempted to get a “lash lift touch-up” sooner.
When the lift weakens prematurely, I generally recommend that people wait at least four weeks between each treatment. This gives the lashes a chance to recover and return to their original state.
What Are the Risks Associated With Getting a Lash Lift Too Often?
It might be tempting to schedule another lash lift as soon as you notice your natural lashes looking slightly less lifted than they were right after your appointment, but there is good reason to wait.
If you try to get a lash lift sooner than 4 weeks after your initial lift, you risk damaging your own natural lashes from frequent exposure to the chemical solution used to curl your eyelashes. Doing so may result in over-processed, frizzy lashes.
If the number of lash lifts done within a short period of time is exaggerated, you even risk having your lashes fall out.
How Long Does a Lash Lift Usually Last?
Most people can expect their lash lift to last around six to eight weeks. However, everyone’s lashes are different, so the length of time may vary from person to person.
If you take proper care of your lashes, you can prolong the life of your lash lift.
To extend the life of your lash lift, follow these important aftercare tips.
1- Avoid getting your lashes wet for the first 24 hours after the treatment
This includes avoiding steam, saunas, crying, and pools. Avoiding showers during that 24-hour period is also crucial. Water can weaken the lift and return your natural lashes to their original state.
2- Gently clean your lashes
Use a lash brush or cotton swab to remove any debris from your lashes. Be sure to use a cleanser that is specifically designed for lash lifts. It should be an oil-free cleanser.
3- Avoid using oil-based products around your eyes
This includes makeup removers, cleansers, and moisturizers. Oil can break down the lift. Moreover, some oily products are notoriously hard to remove which makes preserving your lift even more difficult.
4- Avoid using a lash curler
An eyelash curler can undo the work of the lash lift and cause your lashes to return to their natural state. Moreover, you really shouldn’t need to use it since you already have curled lashes from the lift.
5- Opt for a keratin lash lift
Keratin lash lifts use a natural protein to nourish and strengthen your natural lash. It can help give you longer, fuller lashes, and stronger lashes. The keratin product is applied to your lash line after the perming solution and the setting lotion.
Can You Get Lash Lift Touch-Ups?
There is no need for lash lift touch-ups as the lash lift will last the full duration of the treatment. In fact, lash salons will not advertise “lash lift touch-up appointments” like they normally do for eyelash extensions.
A lash lift touch-up simply doesn’t exist.
Having said that, you will need to repeat the lash lift process every 6-8 weeks to lift the new lashes that would have grown since the previous appointment if you want to maintain the look of lifted lashes.
What Should I Do if I Want to Get Lash Lifts Regularly?
If you plan to get lash lifts often, you should prioritize the health of your natural lashes. There are a few things you can do to make sure your lashes are in optimal condition to get frequent lash lifts without damaging your lashes.
Here are some things you should do if you plan to get regular lash lifts:
1- Wait at least 8 weeks between lash lifts
The most important thing to remember is to time your lash lifts appropriately.
Although last lifts are safe and gentle on your lashes, timing is everything. Schedule your lash lift appointments 8 weeks apart to make sure your lashes don’t get overprocessed or damaged. Plan your appointments when you have big events to make sure you have a fresh lift when you need it.
2- Use oil-free products on your eyes
Oils can break down the lash lift solution and leave a residue on your lashes, which can compromise the longevity of your results.
It’s best to use oil-free products on your eye area including makeup remover, skincare products, and other cosmetics. This is most crucial in the first few days after your lash lift, but you should avoid waterproof mascara and oil-based makeup remover any time you have a lash lift.
3- Apply a lash growth serum
Starting 5-6 weeks after your lash lift appointment, apply an oil-free lash serum to your lash line once per day. The serum will strengthen your lashes and help promote healthy lash growth patterns.
It’s important not to start applying a lash growth serum too soon after your lash lift because it could cause your lash lift to not last as long.
Pro Tip: I have tested over 20 lash serums and shared what are the best eyelash growth serums here.
4- Find a reputable lash artist
One of the most important things to make sure your lashes stay healthy and strong when getting consistent lash lifts is to find a lash specialist that you can trust from a reputable salon. Although it may seem obvious, this is often an overlooked component of making sure your lashes stay in tip-top shape.
To find great lash services near you, ask for referrals from people you trust, check reviews online, and ask to see examples of their work.
Any good lash artist will be happy to show you their portfolio and may even have a social media account dedicated to their work. This is a great sign that you are in good hands.
How Often Can I Get a Lash Lift – Key Takeaways
Lash lifts are a low-maintenance way to wake up with long, voluminous lashes every day. Results from a lash lift can last up to two months, so it’s recommended to wait for a minimum of 8 weeks between appointments.
Waiting longer between lash lifts is always better to allow your lashes to shed and grow back before getting another lift. The sweet spot is typically six to eight weeks. Your lash artist can help you with maintenance tips to keep your lashes looking fresh even when you’re almost due for your next appointment.
If you plan to get lash lifts on a consistent basis, prioritize lash care. Using good-quality products, avoiding oil, and applying a lash growth serum are great tools to use to maintain your healthy lashes.

Hi, I was really loving my lash lifts until I had a lash lift and it looked like they had been curled with a tiny little roller! I was unable to use mascara or able to straighten them and after five weeks they were still curled but more sparse and curling in different directions. When I returned to the salon she said that it is because I had had regular lash lifts, every five weeks for the past four weeks. However she didn’t warn me that I should leave it for a longer period of time in between appointments. She has straightened them out and advised me to wait for six to eight weeks before resuming treatments. She was very nice about it and didn’t charge me the full price to straighten them out and advised me to use caster oil on them every day starting after three days following the straightening. Do you think I should not use the caster oil?
Hi Mel,
Caster oil is excellent for your lashes! It has many health benefits.
